Credelio™ PLUS FAQs

Because your dog can be exposed to dangerous parasites in a number of ways: 

  • from their mum before they’re born or when they suckle  
  • from their environment, inside or outside the home  
  • through the bite of a mosquito 
  • by consuming small animals like birds, reptiles or rodents 
  • some worm larvae can even burrow through their skin 
 

The consequences can be nasty. 

  • Ticks can transmit vector borne diseases such as Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis to dogs
  • Fleas can transmit serious diseases and parasites to dogs and people 
  • Heartworm disease is a potentially fatal disease transmitted by mosquitoes 
  • Intestinal worms can cause severe disease in dogs and puppies, and threaten the health of your family
  • Demodectic mange is a skin condition that can cause your dog severe discomfort and lead to secondary skin infections 

Yes. In order to be adequately absorbed, you should give Credelio™ PLUS to your dog either with food or within 30 minutes of feeding.

An Elizabethan-collar (cone) can be helpful to prevent your dog from scratching or rubbing their ears, which can delay healing and irritate the area further.

Credelio™ Plus is available in 5 different tablet sizes so you get the ideal dose for your dog based on their weight. Your veterinarian will be able to advise you on the correct dose for your dog. Weight ranges include:

>1.4kg -2.8kg

>2.8 – 5.5 kg

>5.5 – 11.0 kg

>11.0 – 22.0 kg

>22.0 – 45.0 kg

For greater than 45.0 kg, administer the appropriate combination of tablets.

The meat flavouring used in the manufacture of Credelio™ PLUS is made from pork liver, barley, wheat and soybeans, and the majority of dogs will readily eat them as a treat.

Credelio™ PLUS is approved for puppies as young as 8 weeks and weighing over 1.4kg.

Dose your dog immediately with food and resume monthly dosing. Check thoroughly for ticks, and seek veterinary advice if a tick is found. If more than 14 days since a dose was missed, follow above protocol and seek veterinary advice regarding heartworm prevention.

Dogs can become infected with heartworm through bites from infected mosquitoes. 

Puppies are usually infected with roundworms by their mother. Older puppies and dogs can become infected by ingesting microscopic roundworm eggs from contaminated soil when licking their feet, playing outside, etc.
