What causes otitis externa in cats?
Otitis externa is inflammation of the outer ear. Ear mites infestation (Otodectes cynotis), yeast like Malassezia, allergens, and ear contaminants could cause otitis externa.
The signs to look for include:
- Foul-smelling ears
- Ear scratching and/or head shaking
- Discharge from the ear
- Crusted or scabby skin under the ear flap
- Swelling or redness around the ear
- Reluctance to have head touched

Indications
For the topical treatment of otitis externa and skin infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria , Gram-negative bacteria, fungi and yeasts, and ear-mites. The product also has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic activity.
Important Safety Information
Do not use in animals with perforated ear drums. Corticosteroids are not recommended for use in pregnant animals. Long-term use of topical steroids may cause skin thinning and delay wound healing.
